Does anyone know what the best PCI slot type video card there is?

I was going to upgrade my system with a gig of ram and a video card. I was researching about video cards and found out that the PCI slot type is the bottom of the rung but I do not have the cash to buy a new computer and was going to make due with what I have. Any recommendations on video cards and what I should be concerned with (Memory, clock speed, etc…)?|||if you're computer is so old it doesn't even have an AGP slot, which has already been phased out but is still servicable, then it's pointless to add a new videocard. Take any money you'd spend and save for a new computer.

If you must buy a new videocard, you're probably looking for a nVidia geForce 4 or above - clock speed is pretty unimportant at this point, 64-128 megs of memory.
